Community organisations take a critical role in New Zealand society and provide many of the services we take for granted. Much of the funding for community providers of health and disabilty support comes from Government and community organisations that are contracted to provide these services and now operate in an environment of increasing accountability. Information about activity is critical for communities, funders, governance boards and a multitude of government agencies.

Because this is such a complex and fragmented area Platform has created a dedicated information/outcomes website.  It provides resources, links and supports, presents opinion, ideas, overviews and simplifcation of how information collection impacts on community organisations.

It also contains the views of a number of non government organisations and links to useful sites which may help when thinking about information collection and reporting.

The NgOit name  was the result of a brainstorming excercise by the Platform National Committe members. It is a combination of getting to "know it" about "non government organisations".

The site contains the highly successful NgOIt Reports

The  NgOit 2005 Landscape Survey was a significant project as it represented a national collection of data and provided a snapshot in time about the organisations providing mental health and addiction services.

The NgOit 2007 Workforce Survey further explored the Landscape Survey information and concentrated on the Workforce to describe qualifications, age and types of working roles people identified that they provided within the organisations.
