The NGOit Landscape Survey represents a national collection of data provided by the sector about the current position of many of the mental health and addiction NGOs delivering services in New Zealand. Of particular note is that NGOs often deliver mental health and addiction services alongside and within other services, e.g. disability support or aged care. The report comprises both narrative commentary and survey results. The data was analysed and validated by a statistician.


The NgOit 2007 workforce survey provides information and analysis from the perspective of the community sector. It is a snapshot provided by the people who work in the industry. 1833 people  from 212 organisations responded, 77% of the respondents had undergraduate certificates,diplomas,postgraduate qualifications or degrees. An emerging workforce trend is that 5% of the respondents who identify as peer support workers. 

 

 
  The NGOit 2008 NGO-DHB Contracting Environment report reflects the experiences, issues and views from a range of community sector mental health and addiction services who contract with District Health Boards. It highlights some wide variations in contract prices and reinforces how having good relationships between DHB personnel and organisations helps to better understand each other.

This aim of this publication is to describe the NGO sector and to describe key attributes, stimulate interest and encourage increased sector, Government and funder engagement. It shows that many NGOs are innovators, run successful community enterprises that employ significant numbers of New Zealanders, are flexible and well-placed to deliver the Government's objectives while meeting the needs of individuals, families and communities.
