HISO - Ensuring Consistent Standards

The role of the New Zealand Health Information Standards Organisation (HISO) is to engage with New Zealand’s health and disability sector in the development of health information standards for New Zealand. This is important to achieve consistent information standards that meet international benchmarking.

HISO was originally set up following a recommendation in the Ministry of Health’s Report, Working to Add Value through E-information, as an independent organisation to lead information technology and information management capability within the New Zealand health sector.

HISO have endorsed the standards and definitions for the information that will be used in the PRIMHD process.
