Temporary Solutions

Sadly, Temp Solutions, a temping agency for people who have experience of mental illness in Wellington is closing on the 30th September. Kites Trust is about developing and testing new and innovative ways of working and for the past five years Kites has supported Temp Solutions to trial a different employment service. There has been a lot of valuable learning and experience gained which we aim to capture for future reference. Kites Trust has made the decision to close Temp Solutions because it is no longer financially viable. From the outset the intention was for Temp Solutions to be self sustaining like a commercial business and for a number of reasons this goal has not been reached.

Kites Trust has valued Temp Solutions, its staff, workers and thanks all those who have supported it. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Marge Jackson, Manager at Kites Trust on Phone 04 384 3303

Gold Award Winner

At the THEMHS Conference held in Melbourne on 5-7 September Temporary Solutions won the Gold Award for Consumer Provided Services.

Temporary Solutions is a project initiated by Kites Trust, operating in the greater Wellington area. Most of our work opportunities are within the mental health and community sector, with service user participation in mental health service employment interviews, and provision of secretarial and support services to planning and community consultation processes being the main sources. We also have skilled people available to work as researchers, writers, editors, clerical staff, and service review contractors. Our survival depends on the willingness of mental health and community sector providers to provide us with work opportunities. This is your chance to show that you support social inclusion and recovery for people who experience mental illness, by employing someone through Temporary Solutions today!

Temporary Solutions are delighted to announce that Work and Income Wellington Region has agreed to provide funding for a new service to assist TS and its workers. This reflects recognition within Work and Income Wellington Region of the value of the work TS does, and a willingness to support the further development of its services.

TS is now ready to be established separately from Kites Trust.  We are looking to secure its future with a new organisation, and we hope to make an announcement regarding this in mid 2009. Long-serving TS Manager Leo McIntyre and Office Assistant Matt Hall are actively involved in the changes being made.
