Why speak about mental illness?

It is contact and dialogue, getting to know people with experience of mental illness that has the greatest impact in bringing about community change in attitudes and acceptance. (Liz Sayce, Mental Health Consumer and Promoter, UK)

Using personal stories this diverse group of inspiring and passionate speakers  talk about many aspects of mental illness, including

  • The effects of mental illness
  • What helped them in their illness
  • Discrimination and stigma they have experienced as a result of their illness
  • Maintaining personal well-being

Speakers are available to address organisations, service clubs, community and business groups and conferences.Presentations are developed to meet the needs of the audience and sessions range from 30 minutes to 3 hours. All sessions are based on the idea that personal stories are both a powerful and effective means of educating about mental illness.
