NGO-DHB Collaboration
Capital Coast and Hutt Valley DHB - NGO Collaboration
Community Sector Development
This role is an initiative of the Capital & Coast District Health Board, the Hutt Valley District Health Board and Platform to support community groups working in the areas of mental health and addiction to work together to improve services to Tangata Whaiora/consumers. | ![]() |
| Platform coordinates forums/meetings that involve community mental health and addiction providers and works to increase communication between community organisations and others working in the mental health and addiction sector. The meetings have been well attended and have looked at the plans and policies, information use and primary mental health. |
Some of the pithy issues are;
- looking at and initiating changes of service users needs
- changes in service delivery
- changes in available resources
- a need for new competencies
- improved relationships between community organisations and with the District Health Boards
- challenges for working collectively to achieve optimum outcomes
- moving towards integrated services
- workforce and leadership development - recruiting, training and development
- true collaboration leading to meaningful partnerships for the benefit of all
- service delivery - are we making a difference; how do we know; what are the gaps; how can we change for the benefit of our tangata whaiora/consumers; what are the local/regional solutions?
