Platform's Story
Where we started
Platform was formerly known as Homes, which was formed in 1990. The original group of seven providers of residential mental health services came together following a conference and agreed that there were issues they would like to explore together. The work of HOMES was undertaken by the elected national executive committee members and an executive officer based in Auckland.
The change of name to Platform in 2001 was based on feedback from the membership and this focus reflects the increasing involvement of Non Government Organisations (NGOs) in the development and delivery of diverse community based mental health services across New Zealand.
