Platform's Income
Membership Fees
About 25 percent of Platform's income is made up of membership fees and we occasionally receive a very welcome extra contribution from a member organisation. The fees are small, as many of the smaller organisations are tightly budgeted, with their income source solely from government contracts. Despite The Treasury Guidelines for contracting with NGOs many government purchasers still hold tightly to the belief that they can only pay for client related activity and the rest of an organisation's activity is unfunded.
Grants
Platform has been very fortunate to receive grants from the New Zealand Lotteries Welfare Board which contribute to telephone costs, printing and stationery and regional networking.
More information about the possibility of obtaining a Grant from Lottery Welfare can be obtained from The Department of Internal Affairs website. There is the ability to register your organisation on Grants online.
We are grateful to the J R McKenzie Trust who have provided financial support and encouragement that has enabled us to undertake our sector wide networking role. Their confidence in us has helped in a practical way to support the work of our members.
Contracts
Our main income is via the contractual work we undertake.
