NGO Workforce Development

In September 2005 the Health and Disability Sector NGO - Ministry of Health Working Group (NGO Working Group) hosted a Forum on workforce development. This and subsequent e-mails and comments to the NGO Working Group identified a number of concerns and issues regarding workforce development which were particularly important to NGOs.

As a result the NGO Working Group contracted Kirsty Peel to carry out a project on NGO workforce development. This project has involved consultation with DHBNZ, the Ministry of Health and NGOs.

The finished report Health and Disability Sector NGO Workforce Development - A report to the NGO Working Group June 2006, considers many of the issues have either not been raised elsewhere or fully considered in other documents. Many of these issues are critical to the viability of the NGO sector, the quality of the services they deliver and, therefore to the government's vision and the health and well being of communities around New Zealand.
