Please note: the data collection tool needs to be completed by you for ALL eligible staff who were employed by you on 1 July 2017, even if they have since left your employment, as well as any eligible staff who have since joined your organisation.
The data collection and submission process for providers is:
If you hold contracts to deliver mental health and addictions services with any of the funders listed below, you should now have been contacted by the Ministry of Health ('the Ministry'), or the other funder directly, about completing a data collection tool:
If you have not received a data collection tool and you hold Ministry contracts you can download it from the Ministry of Health website (along with instructions on how to complete it). Alternatively, you can contact the Ministry team on MHApayequity_implementation@moh.govt.nz or 0800 540 904.
Anyone who holds contracts with MSD only will be contacted by MSD directly. If you only hold MSD contracts and have not yet heard from them, please contact them urgently on firstname.lastname@example.org
If you don’t have a contract with the Ministry, but have a contract with another funder above, please contact the funder urgently.
Workforce data is needed to calculate the total cost of a mental health and addictions pay equity settlement. This calculation is required by the Government. The information gathered will also give providers an estimate of the funding they will receive to pay eligible workers back pay, the new wage rates and also the amount of the government contribution to the increased leave liability if a settlement is approved.
The guidance document (downloadble from the Ministry's website) has a description of the eligible workforce to include in the data collection tool. Please note that your employees may be eligible even if they don't have the words 'support worker' in their job title.
We strongly urge all providers to complete the tool. You may still be entitled to the additional training component of the settlement which is 2 days per FTE ongoing. Also, while you may pay higher rates now, you may be entitled to funding in years two to five of the settlement. Even if your staff are paid at a rate equal to or above the TerraNova rates, the Government still needs information about your employees to work out the cost of a settlement (including over future years of a settlement, potentially until 1 July 2021) and what funding you might be eligible for.
We strongly urge all providers to submit the completed tool. The Government still needs information about your employees to work out the cost of a settlement (including over future years of a settlement, potentially until 1 July 2021) and what funding you might be eligible for. See the question above.
