
Comcare Trust is a Mental Health and Addictions Support work provider and a registered Community Housing Provider working across the Canterbury Region. Comcare offers services to on average 1700 people at any one time. Support services include: a large urban and two rural community support work teams, providing clinical coordination of the regional access pathway (CAP) to all adult community support work services; Jobconnect, a supported employment service; Peer Support across Christchurch and North Canterbury, including a 365 day a week Warmline from midday to midnight, run by trained peer volunteers. Other services include a comprehensive Housing Support Service with hoursing facilitation, sustaining tenancies work and shared living opportunities, a specialist physical health and wellbeing service Activelinks, and a complex problem solving team called the Community Integration Service.
Comcare Community Housing specialises in housing people whose lives have been significantly impacted by mental illness and/or addictions in modern single person flats in small complexes. All flats have private outdoor space. 180 tenancies are currently operational. In addition, the service is running 62 emergency housing flats for single people in urgent housing need and 3 houses in partnership with Ngai Tahu, for iwi whanua in housing need. Comcare is also a partner in the new Hoursing First collaborative initiative begiining in Christchurch in early 2018.
