Cross-party secretariat

Platform|Atamira is proud to be the secretariat for the Cross-party Mental Health and Addiction Wellbeing group established in August 2019. This initiative was based on a recommendation in He Ara Oranga - report on the government inquiry on mental health and addiction.

The cross-party group is made up of one member of each of the political parties:

  • Chloe Swarbrick (Greens),
  • David Seymour (ACT),
  • Jenny Marcroft (NZ First),
  • Louisa Wall (Labour) and
  • Matt Doocey (National).

The group aims to achieve cross-party dialogue to develop a collective vision and the direction of mental health and addictions wellbeing in New Zealand.

Platform|Atamira’s key roles in this project include:

  • Providing secretariat duties
  • Liaising and coordinating shared research projects that the group undertakes
  • Organising quarterly events
  • Communicating with stakeholders

In September 2020, the group released their first joint project on Suicide Prevention.
